1st February 2022: Talking Funny and The Joy of Words

We’re back in the room for this fabulous event full of serious laughs, serious talks and the joy of words!

Join us in-person on Tuesday 1st February 2022 from 5pm at the Bromley Court Hotel, Bromley.

Talking Funny – How to get serious laughs in serious talks with Jeremy Nicholas

Jeremy believes that humour is not something you’re born with, it’s something that anyone can learn. He’ll show us ten ways to get a laugh, when delivering a talk, presentation or workshop.

There are not many things that Jeremy is serious about, but comedy is one of them. He’ll serve up more takeaways than Deliveroo in Bromley, on a moderately busy Tuesday night.

WARNING: This is not a comedy show. It will be a professional look at how to structure your talks for maximum impact using humour as a tool. There might be a few laughs along the way but these are not guaranteed, so prepare yourself for a lecture with the odd smile, some of them very odd.

Your Top Key Takeaways will include:
– Why humour is a good idea
– The best techniques to use
– How to guarantee a laugh
– What to do if you don’t think you’re funny
– And how to do it all without causing offence and losing credibility

The Joy of Words: The Art AND Science of Great Communication with Lis Allen

Whether on or off the stage, choosing language carefully is critical to how your communication is experienced by others. However, it’s not just the meaning of the words themselves, it’s the energetic power of individual words and how they’re delivered.

Lis draws on her study of both language and science (mainly quantum physics) in order to give you some priceless insights into what she considers is great and not-so-great communication openly sharing some of the mistakes she’s made along the way!

In this novel ‘keyshop’, (Lis’s creative blend of keynote and workshop), Lis will be running a fun, thought-provoking and inspirational session.

Your Top Key Takeaways will include:
– The importance of choosing your words like a word ninja (urban definition of ninja!)
– The critical importance of your emotional state when speaking from stage
– The essential elements of really powerful communication

We will also have Michael Hemme, PSA SE Speaker Factor Winner and National Finalist 2021 showcasing with a title “What does a red rose and a yellow canary have in common?”. Answers on a postcard, please!

With Great Responsibility Comes Great Power – With Sarah Furness

In her showcase, Sarah Furness explains that the key to a resilient workforce is power not happiness and that leadership is creating and valuing choice awareness. What will you choose to do you with your power?

As Regional President of PSA Southeast, I look forward to welcoming you back into the room for this packed event on the 1st February.
