A KEYNOTE with PHIL INGLE on Speaking Professionally to Professionals!
Phil Ingle is both a PSA Fellow and a CIPD Fellow. In his capacity as Branch Chair for the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) he schedules events for members of the HR and L&D professions so is also a ‘speaker booker’. He is constantly looking for speakers for events, both live and online.
WHY did we book Phil to speak at the PSA Yorkshire?
Your next client may be in the audience at a professional body event. Phil schedules events for members of the HR and L&D professions so is also a ‘speaker booker’.
In this session we will consider:
– Why professional bodies may be a route to your market
– What a ‘speaker booker’ is looking for
– How to engage with professional bodies by tuning your approach
Phil uses PSA Members and Fellows at CIPD events – not just because they are in the PSA. It is not how good as a speaker you are – it is your relevance, and how you put yourself across.
This is an updated version of a session Phil ran in October 2021 at the PSA Convention.
Phil will also share his experience of other professional bodies so you can consider how you as a speaker can help other professionals, which may lead to further opportunities for you.
WHO is Phil Ingle?
Phil develops new skills in business leaders so they can improve organisational sustainability. His speciality is making understanding finance easier.
He enhances skills by specifically designing workshops, seminars and learning events so management understands how their decisions affect overall performance.
Phil combines this with coaching and leadership skills, remembering that professionals in many organisations have to develop communication skills to match their responsibilities.
As well as being a FPSA, Phil is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, & member of The London Institute of Banking & Finance.

8.30 am – Optional Mindfulness session as well as 1-2-1 networking before and after that
9.00 am – We start our meeting with the warmest, PSA Yorkshire welcome!
9:15 am – Valeria Mironov will run an Impromptu Speaking – you will be invited to speak on a topic for a minute – to practice your spontaneous public speaking skills and if you can make us laugh, that will be great!
9.20 am – Our showcaser this month is Diana Grant, – amazing Fiona Kearns will be running this part
10 am – We will learn from Phil Ingle
10:45 A BREAK will be needed after Phil’s keynote, so we all can digest the information. Use these 10 min to make yourself a cup of Yorkshire (or any other) tea, coffee or anything else you fancy (maybe even something stronger!)..use this time to chat with everyone, share your social media links away, your 1-2-1 online calendars and more
11:10 am – We will hear from THE SURPRISE SPEAKER!
After each speaker you will be in 1-2-1 breakout rooms, discussing what you have learned and what you are going to do as a result of our speaker’s talk, so MORE networking, how EXCITING!
12 pm – Oh no, the event will be finished!
BUT once the event is over, for those who’d like to hang on there’ll be post event networking, relaxed discussion and… mastermind.

Cancellation Policy: Please be aware that we do not accept cancellation of bookings for PSA meetings, as we make arrangements to support the number of places booked and incur costs that cannot often be recovered. If you have booked a place at a PSA event and are no longer able to attend, please ask around your local PSA community to see if another speaker wishes to attend in your place – we’re happy for you to transfer your booking, and just ask that you let us know by emailing [email protected].
Processing your personal data: Please note that when you book an event your data will be processed in accordance with the PSA’s Privacy Notice. When you register to attend a PSA event, we share your name and contact details with the person running the event. For regional meetings, this will be the Regional President. They may share these details with members of the Regional Committee, for the purposes of contacting you about the event, welcoming you, and following up with you afterwards.

We will be taking photographs throughout the event and may also be video recording the event. By purchasing a ticket you agree that all photography may be used at the discretion of the PSA and for the business of any speaker being filmed during the event. However, if you do not wish to appear or be identified in any photography or video footage please advise any Committee member on arrival at the event so we can, of course, accommodate your preference.
Welcome to PSA Yorkshire
Are you an aspiring or already established speaker, trainer, coach or presenter and looking for like-minded professionals? PSA Yorkshire region is the place to come for an energised, upbeat, positive, with lots of fun and learnings meetings! Friendly welcome, helping hand and loads of support is guaranteed to everyone!
We are a part of a global speakers network and so far meetings were international (thank you, ZOOM!) and we will continue connecting with our other global fellow speakers for more value exchange!
Join our monthly meetings on every 3rd Saturday of the month, the official part is between 9am – 12pm currently on ZOOM (you will receive the log in details as soon as you book your ticket). For more value feel free to join us from 8:30 am (mindfulness and clarity time) or stay longer and grab a drink (your own) whilst reflecting on the meeting, sharing successes, inspiring each other with stories…and for a mastermind!
In 2021 we will be focusing on the GAIN:
Growth, Accountability, Improvement and Network.
Growth is all about growing as a speaker and growing your speaking business: learning new things every meeting, not only from the main speaker, but also from each other.
Accountability is about being accountable to each other for making the progress (join the meeting to find out more!)
Improvement is about knowing your strengths and weaknesses and working on those areas which will actually help you speaking business to grow and leave all the rest to…
Networking. Powerful network will not only excel the business through extra help and knowledge, but also will GET you more business. We will pay extra attention to the quality of connection and building a strong team around yourself as a speaker or presenter.
Once the world decided to go forward with the “new normal”, we will be meeting at the Thorpe Park Hotel on the outskirts of Leeds: 1150 Century Way, Leeds LS15 8ZB. Yummy biscuits, fruits and nuts with delicious hot drinks, including hot chocolate and marshmallows are guaranteed! Also, a real “after-party” is-a-must, as we can grab some lunch and continue the conversation or mastermind. The parking is FREE, but you must exchange your parking ticket at the reception before you leave the hotel.
The nearest railway station is Leeds Train Station and with enough notice, we can usually find a friendly member to offer visitors a lift. You can also stay at the hotel overnight, just call the hotel directly: 0113 264 1000.
