8.30 am – Before the meeting actually starts we have an optional Mindfulness session as well as networking, banter and chat.

9.15 am – The meeting will start promptly as we settle down to learn from our speakers how to drive your speaking business upward and onward.

So who do we have for you this month?

Sam Knowles
The Six Golden Rules of Data Storytelling

The most important skills in the modern knowledge economy are making sense of data and using insights extracted from data as the basis for impactful storytelling.

The defining equation of our age is “Analytics + Storytelling = Influence”.

In this inspiring yet practical keynote, critically-acclaimed author Sam Knowles sets out the Six Golden Rules of data storytelling.

In the wake of Covid, where most storytelling takes place online, getting the balance right between numbers and narrative – between the rational and the emotional – has never mattered more.

Sam will demonstrate clearly how to use data to best effect, online and offline.

You will learn how to use data and statistics most persuasively when you want to influence others.

You’ll understand that effective use of data is fundamentally an act of empathy and humanity.

You’ll also see how finding and using credible data positively impacts your bottom line.

Sam Knowles is the Founder & MD of data storytelling consultancy Insight Agents. His purpose is to help diverse organisations talk Human and sound like people.

An established and sought-after trainer, speaker, and podcaster, he is the co-founder and co-host of the Small Data Forum podcast and chair of I-COM’s Data Storytelling Council.

Sam is the author of 2018’s best-selling book “Narrative by Numbers “. He followed this in May 2020 with the critically-acclaimed sequel, “How To Be Insightful”. This ‘using data smarter’ trilogy will be rounded out in summer 2022 by Sam’s new book, “Asking Smarter Questions”.

Next up…

Peter Edge
After Dinner and Stand-Up. Skills to take you from Comedy Club to Corporate Stage!

Peter will talk about how the skills developed in nearly forty years of engaging audiences, telling them stories and making them laugh ‘after’ dinner, transfer, and how you can use them (and a couple of stand-up comedy devices) to make you a better speaker on the corporate stage.

1. Learn how to build bridges and ‘hold’ your audience.

2. Learn the importance of the multi level process of ‘proactive’ listening and research as an (after dinner) speaker.

3. Learn two secrets from the world of stand up comedy, that will transform your keynotes.

Forty years ago Peter turned his back on a career in Dentistry in favour of Policing, completing 30 years service with Merseyside Police across a range of ranks and roles.

As a Senior Investigating Officer, and Head of Training, he delivered corporate training in various aspects of Leadership, Investigation and HR, and lectured to international audiences on the subject of ‘Organised Crime’.

Since retirement he’s run his own business, worked for the NHS and acted as a consultant on the 2014 NATO Summit.

He has been an active after-dinner speaker throughout, and has worked with many of the sporting and comedy greats. He describes his after dinner speaking topics as poking fun at modern day management, and taking a look at the lighter side of policing the inner city.

A PSA member for six years, in 2019 he won the ‘Kenny Harris Badger of Honour’ award at the PSA Annual Convention’s Comedy night.

Married with three daughters, he’s been a rugby player, coach and referee and is a keen cyclist, motorcyclist and walker.

In recent years he’s walked the Camino de Santiago by three different routes, the last two of which have become the subject of his Camino Plodcast.

This month there’s no showcase speaker but a tutorial. SpeakerFactor is on the horizon and to help entrants prepare as well as non entrants learn how to create a winning speech we have…

We also have…

Clare Richmond

There will also be opportunity for questions and observations, thoughts and ideas.

You’ll learn:

Focusing on 3 key elements Clare helps leaders discover their KIP’s (Key Indicators of Potential) in themselves and their teams.

Described as a social innovator, Clare is a Speaker, certified Coach and consultant.

And that’s not all, as usual…
